Pontifract Castle is a fortress and residence in The Tudors in Northern England. It forms a lynchpin in passage between the North and the South.
During Season Three, the castle was commanded by Lord Thomas Darcy, who surrendered it willingly to the rebels of the Pilgrimage of Grace. After the rebellion was crushed, the castle was reclaimed by Royalist forces.
In Season Four, King Henry and his entourage (including his daughter Princess Mary Tudor and his new wife Katherine Howard) visit Pontifract as part of his progress of the North, and Henry makes a gesture of reconciliation to his Northern subjects.
